Barstool Sports is my favorite
sports blog on the www without a doubt. Dan Katz, aka Big Cat, who
runs the Chicago division of Barstool Sports is satirical and whimsical character
who is incredibly entertaining, to say the least. If you are active in the
Twitter community, be sure to give him a follow. You can find him here. But be
warned, some of his content is PG-13. I should probably also say that come of
the content on Barstool Sports is also PG-13.
Anyhow, onto the post. This post by Kmarko, a
Barstool writer, really struck my interest today. The article is centered
around a very interesting story of a 19-year old, 7’6” tall (yes, that’s Yao
Ming tall) basketball player who has chosen to play his college career at
University of Central Florida. While that doesn’t seem too extraordinary
outside of the kid’s height, the peculiar thing is that he (Elhadji Tacko Fall)
doesn’t have much of an interest in his future as an NBA star. Rather, he would
prefer to get his education and get into a career in computer technologies. In
a quote Fall states, “If I could be LeBron James or Steve Jobs, I would be
Steve Jobs because your athleticism will fade one day, but your knowledge will
last forever.” Kmarko, over at Barstool, does a fantastic job of not only
telling Fall’s story, but also referring it to what he calls an epidemic of a
change in the American way. Naturally though, Barstool wouldn’t go about a
story without telling it in their own satirical way. Be sure to check out the blog post here.
